| WHAT IS SO SPEACIAL ABOUT THE EDMUND PETTUS BRIDGE? |
On March 8, 1965, there was another turning point in African-American history. On that day marchers marched from Selma, Alabama to a bridge named the Edmund Pettus Bridge. They actualy wanted to go to Montgomery, Alabama, but they were stopped by troopers because most of the marchers were black.
A few days after the the march, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. organized another march to Montgomery. when they reached the bridge, there were greeted by troopers. The group of over 2,000 blacks and whites stopped, prayed, then turned right around.
Since those two failed attempts, many things have changed. We now have a black president and most racism stopped. I don't have much more to say on this topic because i can't really relate to some of the icidents. when i watched the videos on youtube, I said to myself that that had already happened and and no matter what I had to say, nothing will change the outcome. That happened at least forty-five years ago. I wasn't even alive. Sure we have all learned about the civil rights movement in school. But when I looked at the videos, I kept saying to myself that there was more black history to be learned. Most of you reading this will think that I am racist. I AM NOT RACIST! I just feel that we have learned most of black history. But when you think that you've learned it all, there's more.
To sum up everything, there was another movement in blac history, I am not racist, and there is allways more black history to be learned.
